We just found three (3) Exoto No. RLG 18042 Ford GT 40 MK II Driven By Dan Gurney and Jerry Grant Sebring 12 Hours of Endurance 1966
We just came across three (3) Exoto No. RLG18042 from a private collector. These items are new, but are out of the box - with no box. They are authentic.
This item is $598 at Exoto. We can offer these almost retired Exoto RLG18042 Ford GT 40 MK II Driven By Dan Gurney and Jerry Grant in the 1966 Sebring 12 Hours of Endurance (my home town) for $250.
This Exoto No RLG18042 is a fine diecast scale model of the official factory 'hare' driven by Dan Gurney and Jerry Grant to drive the Chaparrals and Ferraris to their breaking point.
Dan Gurney convincingly upheld team orders and set the pace for both practice and qualifying. Qualifying in a record time of 2:54:9 with the Shelby American Ford GT40 MKII.
Sprinting to their cars at the start of the 1966 Sebring 12 Hours of Endurance, each driver had to reach his car, buckle in, then start the engine. Then, and only then, did they sprint out of their starting space.
Though Gurney got to his car quickly, he got away slowly. Losing several places.
Anyone who has witnessed a Le Mans type start knows that bringing one of these fire breathing beasts to life is exhilarating, but not always successful. Many a Sebring has been lost at the start.
Fortunately, Gurney was quickly able to regain the lead. While leading, Gurney and Grant would lap the old Sebring circuit at 2:59:0 to 3 minutes flat.
