In 1965, Chevrolet released upon the world, the Chevelle Malibu RPO (Retail Production Option) code Z16. This Lane 505 1965 Chevelle Z16 Tuxedo Black Scale Diecast Model is an exact replica of this monster. The 1965 Malibu SS 396 was an impressive showcase of Chevrolet's engineering ability, however with a steep sticker price.. With the Z16 package, the 396ci engine produced 375hp and a beefed up drivetrain.

The Chevell option list RPO Z16 increased the base sticker price by more than half. The options included, but weren't limited to, a sturdy boxed convertible frame, brakes from the full sized Chevrolet models, a narrowed full sized Chevrolet rear axle and heavy duty suspension. Also, included with this package were front and rear sway bars, power brakes, heavy duty cooling and a tachometer.
